In response to this growing trend, Whistler Blackcomb and Samsung Canada, a leading technology supplier in the Canadian marketplace, have announced a three year corporate sponsorship which will bring the latest trends in digital technology to the slopes of Whistler, BC.
The sponsorship agreement positions Whistler Blackcomb as a showcase property where guests can experience first-hand how innovative Samsung products can help them play more, do more and share more during their visit. Guests can expect to see high definition LED screens broadcasting real-time information on weather, lift statuses, alpine webcams, and more throughout the resort. In addition to enhancing the guest experience on and off the mountains, Samsung will use a variety of Whistler Blackcomb sites as strategic venues to profile their latest products.

Whistler Blackcomb is a year-round resort and offers recreational activities in the winter and summer months. As such, the new sponsorship with Samsung will feature year-round activations unique to each season. One of the most significant elements of the sponsorship will be a summer-only activation – The Samsung Alpine Theatre. Located in the Roundhouse Lodge on Whistler Mountain, the Samsung Alpine Theater features an impactful multi-panel video wall providing summer guests a chance to relax while viewing promotional videos during their PEAK 2 PEAK Alpine Gondola Experience.

The new agreement also names Samsung as a new sponsor of Whistler Blackcomb’s Showcase Showdown event, the longest running Canadian snowboard competition. Now in its 17th year, the Showcase Showdown will take place on Whistler and Blackcomb mountains on March 14 and 15, 2014 and will feature some of Canada’s top snowboard athletes. Samsung will also roll out new technology throughout the resort including digital screen upgrades at the Garibaldi Lift Co. (GLC), Dusty’s Bar & BBQ, Merlins Bar & Grill, and Showcase Snowboards. Guests who have visited Whistler Blackcomb this winter have also been able to view HD Video on the new Samsung commercial slim bezel video wall, located in the Whistler Village Gondola Terminal.
