Just in time for the 2013.2014 ski season, Whistler Blackcomb and Arc’teryx have entered into an exciting, new, three-year corporate partnership. The agreement will see all Whistler Blackcomb Ski School staff in Arc’teryx uniforms starting this winter, and will establish Arc’teryx as the presenting sponsor of the backcountry experience accessible via Whistler Blackcomb. The innovative outerwear brand has also solidified itself as the title sponsor of Whistler Blackcomb’s popular women’s ski and snowboard programs, which will now be called the Arc’teryx Women’s Camps presented by GORE-TEX®.
“We are thrilled to bring Arc’teryx on board and into our corporate partnership family,” says Stuart Rempel, Senior Vice President of Marketing and Sales at Whistler Blackcomb. “The Arc’teryx brand has extensive backcountry roots and values that align perfectly with Whistler Blackcomb.”
The new agreement between Whistler Blackcomb and Arc’teryx builds on an existing partnership to provide Whistler Blackcomb’s Ski Patrol with uniforms. The brand will also remain title sponsor of the prestigious Arc’teryx Deep Winter Photo Challenge, presented by GORE-TEX® taking place in Whistler for the eighth year in a row on January 18, 2014. The elite professional photography competition involves six, high-profile photographers, capturing the essence of storm season at Whistler Blackcomb over a designated 72-hour time period. Each photographer presents a slideshow to a live audience and a panel of expert judges determine who takes home the grand prize of $5,000 and the title of “King of Storms”.
“Arc’teryx and Whistler Blackcomb are two brands driven by quality and performance with roots in the Canadian Coast Mountains,” says Adam Ketcheson, VP of Marketing & B2C at Arc’teryx. “This is an exciting partnership with one of North America’s most iconic big mountain resorts and the expansive backcountry terrain that can be accessed from the high alpine lifts aligns with the Arc’teryx brand. We’re really excited to be working with the Whistler Blackcomb, the resort our employees consider to be their home mountain”
Whistler Blackcomb Ski School is made up of 760 full time employees who teach approximately 225,000 lessons throughout the year, providing great exposure to the Arc’teryx brand.
Bartosz Barczynski, General Manager of the Adult Snow School Program at Whistler Blackcomb said the Arc’teryx partnership was “a perfect fit”.
“With an average snowfall of roughly 12-metres or 40 feet per year, finding a uniform to keep our staff warm and dry was a priority,” says Barczynski. “Our staff work outdoors in all types of conditions on a daily basis so we look for a quality product that can stand up to the elements.”
Arc’teryx is sold at Whistler Blackcomb retail locations including Whistler Heli-Skiing and CAN-SKI.
