We offer a few internships in our winter season for a 6 month period from:
  • Mid November to end of April

Applications and Interviews:

Food and Beverage internships are paid and will provide accommodation at a discounted rate for the term of the internship

We typically accept applications 2 months prior to the start date of the internship. So for example, if an internship was to start in January we would accept applications as early as November.

If you were to be selected, we would offer you an interview either in person or over the phone as we understand that you might not be in Whistler at the time of the interviews.

Internship Offer and Conditions:

If you are offered an internship you will be working full time from 30-40 hours a week.

Then Whistler Blackcomb will require the following information to hire you:
  • Work Permit (if applicable)
  • Social Insurance Number
  • Criminal Record Check (if applicable)
  • Photo Identification (Government issued, i.e., passport, driver's license, etc.)

Seasons Pass
  • As long as you remain an intern in good standing with Whistler Blackcomb you will have a season pass to access the mountains.

Retail

Winter Rentals
  • 25% off rentals before 11am.
  • 50% off rentals after 11am (except during peak periods such as Christmas, President's Week, Spring Break and Easter - it will just be 25% during the holiday periods)

  • 20% off at Tuning Centres ~Ski service is $25 and snowboard is $30 (could be more depending on damage)

Food & Beverage
  • 50% off at all market style restaurants. (For on Mountain restaurants discount applies all day when on shift or when not at work all day except between 12-1:30pm)

Snow School
  • Free group lessons available when space allows in the right ability level

Lead Cook

Whistler Blackcomb’s mission is to create the best memories for you…again and again!

Duties include (but are not limited to):
  • To be well versed in Whistler Blackcomb’s HACCP and Food Safe programs.
  • Assist in the leading of kitchen staff, including delegation of breaks.
  • To ensure that food is received, stored, handled, prepared, and presented in a timely and hygienic manner.
  • Prepare food on the line and at service stations on demand.
  • Responsible for keeping the kitchen area clean, tidy and organized; including the freezers and coolers.
  • Assist in the ordering and inventory of food.
  • Assist in front-line service when necessary.

Qualifications include (but are not limited to):
  • Minimum 2 years professional kitchen experience in a high-volume facility.
  • Must be able to make decisions quickly and efficiently.
  • Excellent communication and motivational skills.
  • Inventory control and supervisory skills are an asset including coaching, training and mentoring of staff.
  • Ability to work without supervision.
  • Extensive culinary knowledge – food knowledge dependent on unit.
  • Organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to train station cook, prep cook and dishwashers.

Lead Hand

Duties include (but are not limited to):
  • Provide hands-on leadership and direction to food service employees in any assigned outlet.
  • Assist with all inventory controls.
  • Be accountable for all cash control procedures.
  • Assist with employee training, development, and communication.
  • Provide quality control on all products and services.
  • Assist with scheduling and labour controls.
  • Promote a fair and harmonious work environment.
  • Ensure fair and consistent disciplinary action.
  • Ensure Food Safety compliance with regards to training, temperature monitoring, cleaning schedules and weekly internal auditing.

Qualifications include (but are not limited to):
  • Food Safe and Serving it Right certificates a must.
  • Previous cash handling and kitchen experience are required.
  • You must be an intermediate or better skier/snowboarder.
  • Cooking exposure to various kitchen machinery.
  • Employment in this position is conditional upon the satisfactory completion of Background and/or criminal record checks.

F&B Supervisor

Duties include (but are not limited to):
  • Provide hands-on leadership and direction to food service employees.
  • To supervise and backup bartenders and servers throughout peak periods.
  • Assist with all inventory controls.
  • Be accountable for all cash control procedures.
  • Assist with employee training, development, and communication.
  • Provide quality control on all products and services.
  • Assist with scheduling and labor controls.
  • Promote a fair, harmonious work environment.
  • Ensure Food Safety compliance with regards to training, temperature monitoring, cleaning schedules and weekly internal auditing.

Qualifications include (but are not limited to):
  • Minimum 2 years previous supervisory experience preferably in a high volume food and beverage environment.
  • Previous cash-handling experience.
  • Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Must be highly organized.
  • Must be able to motivate staff members and be a team player.
  • Self-starter able to work with minimal supervision.
