Calendar:

For our Marketing department we offer 2 internships a year for a 4 month period from:
  • January to April
  • May to August

For our Interactive Media department we offer 2 internships a year for a 4 month period from:
  • Mid September/End of September to December
  • January to April

Applications and Interviews:

Marketing internships are unpaid but will provide free accommodation for the term of the internship. (Please note: Staff accommodation is a taxable benefit)

We typically accept applications 2 months prior to the start date of the internship. So for example, if an internship was to start in January we would accept applications as early as November.

If you were to be selected, we would offer you an interview either in person or over the phone as we understand that you might not be in Whistler at the time of the interviews.

Internship Offer and Conditions:

If you are offered an internship you will be working full time from 30-40 hours a week.

Then Whistler Blackcomb will require the following information to hire you:
  • Work Permit (if applicable)
  • Social Insurance Number
  • Criminal Record Check (if applicable)
  • Photo Identification (Government issued, i.e., passport, driver's license, etc.)

  • As long as you remain an intern in good standing with Whistler Blackcomb you will have a season pass to access the mountains.

Retail

Winter Rentals
  • 25% off rentals before 11am.
  • 50% off rentals after 11am (except during peak periods such as Christmas, President's Week, Spring Break and Easter - it will just be 25% during the holiday periods)

  • 20% off at Tuning Centres ~Ski service is $25 and snowboard is $30 (could be more depending on damage)

Food & Beverage
  • 50% off at all market style restaurants. (For on Mountain restaurants discount applies all day when on shift or when not at work all day except between 12-1:30pm)

Interactive Marketing Assistant

Position Status: Unpaid internship: (Full-time workload 30-40 hours/week). This position comes with a pass allowing unlimited skiing and riding at Whistler Blackcomb and accommodation if needed.

Job Summary: As a member of the Whistler Blackcomb Marketing department you will report directly to a Interactive Marketing team member as well as work closely with other teams to obtain hands-on experience working on various CRM (Customer Relationship Marketing) and Web marketing projects as we implement initiatives for the 2011.12 winter season.

Duties:
  • Assistance to the Interactive Marketing team with the implementation of marketing initiatives including Customer Relationship Marketing (CRM), direct marketing, create emails, write and present marketing briefs for marketing projects.
  • Assist in e-mail creation and copywriting
  • Maintain and update select web sections on WB.com.
  • Preparation and editing of online content.
  • Assist in proof reading of all marketing and advertising projects
  • Other projects to be determined

Qualifications:
  • Minimum 1 year experience in the marketing & sales/communication industry (preferred but not essential).
  • Experience in page layout using HTML and CSS an asset
  • Thorough knowledge of the Internet medium and proficient with Microsoft Office suite. Experience with Photoshop, and Dreamweaver an asset
  • Understanding of Whistler Blackcomb Products & Services and passionate towards the industry
  • Current enrollment in a marketing program at a post-secondary institution
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Must be organized and be able to manage a variety of projects
  • Must work well in a fast-paced, challenging environment with minimal supervision and be self-motivated.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills, be mature and well-groomed

Intern Student Marketing Assistant

Position Status: Unpaid internship:(Full-time workload 30-40 hours/week). This position comes with a pass allowing unlimited skiing and riding at Whistler Blackcomb

Summary:

As a member of the Whistler Blackcomb Marketing department you will report directly to the Brand Marketing Specialist as well as work closely with other team members to obtain hands-on experience working on various marketing projects as we implement initiatives for the 2010/11 winter season.

Duties:
  • Assistance to the Brand Marketing Specialist and other marketing Coordinators with the implementation of marketing initiatives including research, direct marketing, advertising and collateral
  • Administer and maintain the production filing, sample binders, brochure cabinet and media files
  • Assistance in production administration: filing, and faxing and arranging couriers
  • Assist in proof reading of all marketing and advertising projects
  • Fill in for marketing staff during vacation time
  • Other projects to be determined

Qualifications:
  • Minimum 1 year experience in the marketing & sales/communication industry (preferred but not essential)
  • Understanding of Whistler Blackcomb Products & Services and passionate towards the industy
  • Current enrollment in a marketing program at a post-secondary institution
  • Thorough knowledge of the Internet medium and proficient with Microsoft Office suite.
