Calendar:
We offer 2 internships a year, in the winter for 4 month period and in the summer for 2 month period from:
- Mid November to end of April
- June to end of August-This term will not be running for summer 2012

Applications and Interviews:
Retail Rental internships are paid and will provide accommodation for the term of the internship at a discounted rate.
We typically accept applications 2 months prior to the start date of the internship. So for example, if an internship was to start in January we would accept applications as early as November.
If you were to be selected, we would offer you an interview either in person or over the phone as we understand that you might not be in Whistler at the time of the interviews.
Internship Offer and Conditions:
If you are offered an internship you will be working full time from 30-40 hours a week.
Then Whistler Blackcomb will require the following information to hire you:
- Work Permit (if applicable)
- Social Insurance Number
- Criminal Record Check (if applicable)
- Photo Identification (Government issued, i.e., passport, driver's license, etc.)

Winter Rentals
- 25% off rentals before 11am.
- 50% off rentals after 11am (except during peak periods such as Christmas, President's Week, Spring Break and Easter - it will just be 25% during the holiday periods)

- 20% off at Tuning Centres ~Ski service is $25 and snowboard is $30 (could be more depending on damage)
Food & Beverage
- 50% off at all market style restaurants. (For on Mountain restaurants discount applies all day when on shift or when not at work all day except between 12-1:30pm)

Snow School

Senior Retail/Rental Clerk Intern

Position Status: Paid internship: (Full-time workload 30-40 hours/week). This position comes with a pass allowing unlimited skiing and riding at Whistler Blackcomb
Duties:
- Maintain a consistent and high level of guest service
- Understand and comply with Service Power policies
- Handle guest complaints, returns and exchanges in a friendly manner
- Greet guests within one or two minutes of entering the store
- Approach all customers and assess their needs by asking open-ended questions
- Offer accurate product information, features and benefits of the product (both Retail and Rental)
- Instruct the guest regarding proper care and maintenance of the product
- Operate the ARALCO and CSI machines and balance the till (to the dollar)
- Take part in the daily housekeeping duties to maintain store cleanliness and tidiness
- Ensure all displays are maintained and changed when necessary
- Keep floor well stocked of sizes and styles
- Take part in inventory counts
- Take an active role in loss prevention, internally as well as externally
- Maintain data integrity through following all procedures completely
- Comply and use store systems and procedures
- Supervise the store and staff in the absence of the supervisor
- Provide leadership and be a role model to all sales associates particularly in conducting staff briefings
- Carryout assigned TO DO’S of the supervisor and Manager either personally or delegate
- Responsible for staff recognition, motivation, and discipline

- Promote sales culture
- Work with Supervisor to facilitate Frontline Staff Communication
- Work with Supervisor to ensure Guest Flow in your Business Unit is maximized
- Key Areas of Responsibility include Loss prevention, Inventory, Metric Tracking, Financial Support
- We are a company that works together and throughout the season you may be required to assist other departments as needed.
- Other Duties as Assigned by Supervisor
Qualifications:
- Previous Retail and sales experience a must
- Previous cash handling experience is a must
- Experience with the Retail computer systems a definite asset
- Must be approachable, dependable and a responsible member of the team
- BC Drivers License and Drivers Abstract an asset
- Required to complete a satisfactory criminal record check

- A better understanding of the Retail and Rental industry in a Resort Environment
- Understanding and Managing the Guest Experience in a Resort Environment
- A basic knowledge and experience managing front line staff
- Experience training and following up on basic frontline staff procedures and policies
- Hands-On tactical knowledge of the Retail and Rental business
