Summer Timeline

From May through October, the Whistler Blackcomb alpine always has something in season. The summer views and vistas atop the PEAK 2 PEAK 360 Experience change daily, transforming the surrounding glaciers, wildflowers and trails into a whole new playground with every visit. It’s like a season within a season, but you’ll need more than one day to see summer unfold its vibrant, ever-changing glory.

Early Summer:

May - June

Despite the warm summer days in the Whistler Valley, Whistler Blackcomb's alpine provides almost year-round opportunities for an impromptu snowball fight or snowman construction that'll bring out the kid in everyone.

In Season Highlights:

  • PEAK 2 PEAK Gondola
  • Giant Snow Walls – along Peka’s and Mathew’s Traverses on Whistler Mountain

Mid Summer:

July -August

At the height of summer, the open-air chairlifts raise you up high over the tree line into an expanse of giant, snow-capped peaks, glaciers and ancient volcanic debris. Warmer temperatures allow more access to alpine hiking trails and walking paths.

In Season Highlights:

  • PEAK 2 PEAK Gondola
  • Glaciers – access continues to expand, with trails and look outs that take you up close and personal to the ancient ice that carved out this area
  • Whistler Summit – take an open-air chairlift ride to this peak, for jaw dropping views and access to trailheads
  • 7th Heaven on Blackcomb – take a bus and open-air chairlift to this peak, for amazing viewpoints, as well as a look at skiers/riders perfecting their tricks in the glacier
  • Wildflowers – for a short 3-4 week period near the end of July, watch the mountains explode into a pallet of colour with the bloom of alpine wildflowers
  • Hiking/Running – access continues to expand, with up to 50km of trail that take you into the heart of Whistler Blackcomb’s alpine and the start of Garibaldi Provincial Park

September - October

The alpine environment in autumn still allows for epic hikes or runs, incredible views, stunning colours and maybe even a light dusting of snow on the mountain peaks.  And this is your best chance to see wildlife, because it’s not just humans that play in these wild mountains: Black bear families, deer, grouse, marmots and pika all roam the dense forests.

In Season Highlights:

  • PEAK 2 PEAK Gondola
  • Glaciers
  • Hiking/Running – head over to Blackcomb Mountain for a greater choice of trails and look outs
