Students love Ride Tribe because it is no ordinary ski school, it's a culture. They get to ski and ride with young professional coaches who know the mountains inside out, top to bottom.

Benefits:

• All students ski/ride in a session with a coach for the entire day. The presence of a coach is mandatory, but students will be having so much fun it won't matter.
• Students will be supervised by our coaches for the entire day on Blackcomb Mountain. Students will be escorted from the bus, to the rental shop, to lunch and back to the drop-off area at the end of the day, allowing you to enjoy the mountain with other teachers or chaperones knowing that the safety of your students lies in the capable hands of specially trained Ski School staff.
• Replacing the lesson, a 'session' focuses on not only skill development, but the experience on the mountain. Our pros cater to the student's needs. Park, pipe, free riding, learning to turn - whatever they want to do. There is no standing around because we are too busy getting loads of vertical.
• Students are grouped in sessions with friends, based on ability. Skiers and snowboards can be grouped together in intermediate or advanced groups.
• We require every student who takes in the Ride Tribe Schools program to wear a helmet. We have more than enough helmets to outfit every student in the RTS program with a complimentary CSA approved helmet regardless of whether or not they are renting any other equipment. We also have enough Wrist Guards to provide all snowboarders with them. We strongly recommend all teachers/chaperones to ride/ski with a helmet as well, and would be happy to provide you with one complimentary as well.
• A complimentary Flaik GPS unit will be included for every student this year. Flaik is a real-time tracking solution for skiers and riders that not only provides extra safety, but allows participants to log their day to see what runs they were on, how much vertical was achieved and see where they want to ski in the future at Whistler Blackcomb.
• Beginners will focus on fundamentals and will quickly become comfortable on skis or a board.
• Halfpipe and terrain park clinics focusing on freestyle skills are offered for intermediate to advanced skiers and riders, led by specially trained instructors

Open Wednesday-Sunday from December to April

We want you and your students to have the best mountain experience possible and the key to achieving this goal is to have a group of staff dedicated exclusively to the Ride Tribe Schools program. We operate Wednesday-Sunday from December to April, with breaks at Christmas and in February (specific dates noted above). All of our staff are specially trained on the schools program and understand the level of care required to provide a safe and fun environment for your students.

Organizer Incentives

School Rewards

Complimentary Chaperone lift tickets will be provided to teachers and adult chaperones valid for your trip date only. As with years gone by, these tickets will be based on an 8:1 ratio for elementary & a 12:1 ratio for secondary schools. Any additional adult day of lift tickets can be purchased for $65 (HST incl). Both of these tickets will only be valid for your RTS trip date, no exceptions.

We value all the hard work that goes into organizing trips with the Ride Tribe Schools program for your students each season, and would like to offer the following rewards to organizers.

The first reward is a $2/student commission paid back to the organizer through a WB Gift Card should they bring within 5% of the numbers submitted on the school trip forms sent in two weeks prior to your trip date. For example if you submit your Ride Tribe Schools Trip forms with 100 students, and 98 actually attend on the day of your trip you will receive a Whistler Blackcomb Gift Card in the value of $196. If 100 students were submitted on your forms and only 90 attend then you would not be eligible for this perk.

For the second reward, we will be offering complimentary any day lift-tickets to the organizer based on the following ratios: - 1 ticket / trip with 25-49 students - 2 tickets / trip with 50+ students. The tickets will not be available on the day of the trip. You will be issued a Mountain Money Number that you can take to any WB Guest Services location to pick up your tickets.

Lastly, the top 50 organizers will be invited to our Ride Tribe Schools Organizer Appreciation Day in April. The day includes:

• Complimentary transportation to and from Whistler with various pick up/drop off locations around Vancouver
• Complimentary lift ticket
• Complimentary Lunch and complimentary après event on the sunny Dusty's patio
• Ski on your own or with our Ride Tribe Schools Instructors

• Cancellations must be made more than 72 hours prior to arrival time. Any cancellation made within 72 hours notice will be subject to a $500 cancellation fee.

Partnership with Destination Snow

For the 2011.12 season, Whistler Blackcomb will continue our successful partnership with Destination Snow, the largest group ski and snowboard tour specialist in Western Canada. Ride Tribe Schools and Destination Snow have teamed up in order to provide you with our most encompassing ski/snowboard trip package to date. In choosing to include Destination Snow as part of your Ride Tribe Schools program, you will be provided with a hands-off, hassle-free experience from start to finish.

Destination Snow offers schools a level of service consistent with the School Protection Program (SPP). Choose Destination Snow and they will:

• Meet with you to answer any question or concerns about the program.
• Provide you with a custom promotional package (flyers to promote the trip at school, standardized consent forms to be taken home, itineraries, waivers, etc.)
• Arrange all trip details and provide an insured uniformed guide on every bus.
• Destination Snow Guide(s) run the trip consistent with SPP guidelines (Show CWSAA respect video, ensure all students are properly waivered, etc.)
• Guide ensures that students are delivered to Ride Tribe Coaches for the duration of the day so that teachers are able to enjoy a day of skiing or boarding.
• Promote the trip to your students.

Whistler Adaptive Sports – Ride Tribe Schools Program

How to Register

Registration for the Whistler Adaptive Ski & Snowboard Program buddy with the Ride Tribe Program continues to be done through the Whistler Blackcomb website or online at Whistler Adaptive. Please be sure that school’s name and contact information at the school is complete on the registration form.  Often the school does the registration form for the family and pays for the session in advance as we only take credit cards over the phone when booking for WASP programs.

The participant is no longer required to become a member of the Disabled Skier's Association of BC. However, there is a new Whistler Adaptive Sports Program membership of $10.00 that is required and the box on the registration form links to a page to pay for this membership.

Once the guest has completed the online registration process, the paying party will call us back toll free 1-800-766-0449 ext 2 to confirm online registration. We can look for their registration form, and help them move forward from here. At this time, we will send a waiver to teachers to pass on to parents to fill out. When this is complete, please send the waiver back to us.

Pricing (two options):

If the child is able to be integrated into the Snow School class easily, the cost is $65.00 (mainstream Ride Tribe rate). Within this program, the student will be accompanied by a trained 'buddy' throughout the day who will be there to offer support to both the student and the coach. There should be no other charges for this child other than the $65.00 (and $10.00 for WASP membership). This cost includes the buddy, lesson, lift ticket, and rentals. All transportation and meal charges will be billed through the school.

If a child needs special equipment, or cannot be integrated into the mainstream Ride Tribe class, the lesson will need to go through Whistler Adaptive Sports Program (WASP). WASP students in this option will be provided with a private lesson. The cost for this is $155.00, which covers lift, lesson, rentals and an option to have a family member/friend/assistant join the guest in their lesson with a complimentary ticket to do so. For this program, students meet their instructor in Essentially Blackcomb (EBCB) in the Carleton Lodge at the base of Whistler Mountain at 9am.

Process (regardless of level of integration):

The WASP instructor will arrive between 8:45-9am, either at Base 2 for integrated students or in the village at the Carleton Lodge for private lessons. The instructor will have the child's lift ticket (therefore please do not include this student on your Trip Summary Form). The WASP instructor will also walk the guest through the rental process.
