No April Fool's Joke: 43 cm at Whistler Blackcomb

Whistler Blackcomb is finally enjoying its legendary powder season as another 43cm of snow fell overnight bringing the total snowfall accumulation since March 16 to 170 cm or 67 inches. The snowbase has climbed to 233 cm or 93 inches. “We’re currently experiencing epic mid-winter conditions at Whistler Blackcomb and are looking ahead to a spring season that will quite possibly be one of the best ever,” says Doug Forseth, Senior Vice President Operations at Whistler Blackcomb. “The snow took a long time coming this winter, but we’re enjoying a great season now - a great reward for all the hard work and patience that went into the season early on.”

The forecast is calling for another frontal system to bring more snow through the weekend with snowfall accumulation of 10 to 15 cm forecasted for both days on Saturday and Sunday.

Whistler Blackcomb enjoys one of the longest ski seasons in the world with winter operations continuing until June 5 and summer glacier operations continuing until late July. With traditionally some of the best spring snow conditions in the world, Whistler is poised to kick off the 10th annual TELUS World Ski & Snowboard Festival - Whistler’s event of the year. With ten days and nights of free concerts on an outdoor stage, pro ski and snowboard competitions, as well as an ever-evolving arts and culture scene, the Festival will hit the village April 8-17.
