Anniversary Party at Whistler Blackcomb

Anniversary PARTY AT WHISTLER BLACKCOMB ReflectS on Past Present and Future - TAKES PLACE DECEMBER 10 at the ROUNDHOUSE LODGE

Themed Weekend Full of Events Toasts Anniversary Season - Rossignol Anniversary Skis, 05/06 Season Passes to be Won

WHISTLER, BC, November 21, 2005 - Whistler Blackcomb will host Whistler's 40th and Blackcomb's 25th anniversary celebration on Saturday, December 10 at the Roundhouse Lodge. 'Reflection' is the theme of the night as 1,000 people are invited up to the mountain top event to celebrate Whistler Blackcomb's past, present and future in true Whistler style.

"Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains have come a long way since they opened 40 and 25 years ago" says Stuart Rempel, senior vice president of sales and marketing at Whistler Blackcomb. "This weekend will kick off an exciting journey as we celebrate with our long-time season passholders, our community, our staff and anyone who has ever been bitten by the Whistler bug."

Tickets for Saturday night's event are $35 and are available through Whistler Blackcomb Reservations at 1-800-766-0449 or from any Guest Relations Agent. The party will feature nostalgic décor that will take guests on a trip down memory lane, delicious food stations located throughout the venue, the well-known, 11-piece Vancouver band "The Dynamics", favourite local DJs and the reveal of a special work of art by well-known artist Brent Lynch that has been commissioned for the anniversaries.

The spirit of the anniversary celebration at the Roundhouse will extend down the mountain throughout the weekend. Whistler Blackcomb Ski and Snowboard School, Guest Relations Agents, Lift Operators and other staff around the mountains will be outfitted in their best old-school ski gear on Saturday, December 10. Guests who join in the fun by dressing in retro attire while skiing or snowboarding that day will have an opportunity to win one of two pairs of limited edition Rossignol Anniversary skis. Created by Rossignol especially for the anniversaries, Rossignol has taken its popular B2 ski, growing it a little wider and adding more sidecut, making it a guaranteed winner whether in powder or on hardpacked snow. With the limited edition anniversary topcoat, this is one sweet prize. Retro attire must include at least a jacket, toque and goggles/glasses to qualify for the draw. Guests must upload from any base before 10:30am to receive a ticket for the draw. The draw will be made that afternoon at 4pm on the Garibaldi Lift Company patio. Guests must be present to win.

On Friday December 9, Dusty's Bar & Grill in Creekside and Merlin's at the base of Blackcomb Mountain will be hosting anniversary themed events and giving away a very modern season pass for the 05/06 season. Live music will take guests back to the psychedelic good times of the 60's at Dusty's while Merlin's hosts a DJ playing all the classics from the 80's. Good times get rolling for après at both bars and will extend well into the wee morning hours.

Whistler Village businesses will also share in the nostalgia, as local businesses join in the spirit of the anniversaries by offering themed promotions throughout the weekend.

Hotel rooms during that weekend start from $129 CAD/$109 USD per night. For more information about accommodation, the anniversary party tickets or any other anniversary events and activities taking place December 9-11 please visit /invite/index.htm
