WHistler Blackcomb TO OFFER SKIING NEXT YEAR FROM $43 PER DAY WITH POPULAR EDGE CARD PROGRAM

Program expands across Canada, offers spring pass for $89 add-on

WHISTLER, BC, April 4, 2006 – While celebrating a 43% increase in Edge Card sales over the prior year, Whistler Blackcomb has just released the details of its popular Edge Card program for the 06-07 season, designed to offer discounted skiing for frequent guests. This year, the Edge Card availability will expand to all Canadian residents, rather than BC residents only. The Edge Card also continues to be available to Washington State residents.

“The Edge Card program offers exceptional value and aggressively positions Whistler Blackcomb as an affordable option to other BC resorts,” says Stuart Rempel, Senior Vice President of Marketing and Sales at Whistler Blackcomb. “We hope to earn our guests’ loyalty across the country by offering an exceptional resort experience at a reasonable price. That loyalty is then further rewarded with great accommodation offers and other perks throughout the year.”

A 5-day Edge Card is available for $259, and includes five days on the mountain during the 06-07 season, a bonus day before December 22, 2006, and a summer Peak Adventure lift ticket. That works out to $43 per day of skiing or snowboarding. Senior, youth and child pricing is also available.

New this spring, purchasers can add on an $89 upgrade and enjoy unlimited skiing and snowboarding for the rest of the spring season. With over 10.8 metres (35 feet) of snowfall this winter and a 295 centimetre (116 inch) base, the spring season – which extends to June 4 – is shaping up to be epic.

Finally, purchasers also have the option to add on five additional days next winter for $44 per day (a $219 total expenditure).

The deadline to take advantage of these prices is April 30, 2006.

“No other resort can match this value,” continues Rempel. “With 8,171 acres of skiable terrain offering choices for beginners to experts, a state-of-the-art high speed lift system, great on-hill restaurants and bars, a world-renowned Ski and Snowboard School, a family tube park and a fantastic base village with all the activities, shops, restaurants spas and galleries that you could ever need, Whistler Blackcomb offers it all.”

The resort has just unveiled plans to build a new high speed detachable quad chairlift for next season in Whistler Mountain’s spectacular high alpine. The Piccolo Express lift will transport guests to the peak of Piccolo to access more than 1,000 acres of legendary vast bowls, deep snow and exciting gladed sub-alpine skiing. Delivering both gentle and challenging terrain, this new lift will access runs for low intermediates and up.

Hotel rooms are currently available from $89 CAD or $75 USD per night, with a minimum two night stay.
