Largest Ski and Snowboard Sale in Canada Provides Plenty to Choose From and Great Deals.  The annual Whistler Blackcomb Turkey Sale marks the unofficial start of the winter season as 20,000 square feet of ski and snowboard gear are offered at up to 70 per cent off. Over Thanksgiving weekend, deal hunters can stock up on everything from skis and snowboards, to jackets, pants, goggles and gloves. Located in the Blackcomb Daylodge, the Whistler Blackcomb Turkey Sale runs from Friday, October 5 through to Monday, October 8.

Whistler Blackcomb is casting an optimistic gaze toward its 2007/2008 winter season after last year was heralded as the resort’s second snowiest year on record, with a total snowfall of 14.16 metres (46.5 feet). That’s 40 per cent more than the resort’s average annual snowfall of 1,022cm (33.5 feet).
As the Whistler Mountain Bike Park winds down from another record-breaking bike season, Gravity Logic, designer and developer of the world-renowned Whistler Mountain Bike Park is set to host the 2nd Annual Gravity Logic Forum. 
The Whistler Mountain Bike Park opened a new section of the popular bike trail Crank It Up Saturday, August 11.  A guaranteed thrill, Crank It Up is a progressive trail with a variety of jumps and obstacles suitable for riders intermediate and up.
Whistler Blackcomb's signature alpine hiking trail, the High Note, which opened last weekend, is in full bloom. Signature wildflower colours such as purple, yellow and pink pepper the landscape, making this next few weeks the most beautiful hiking time of the season.
This year, the Whistler Blackcomb Foundation Environmental Fund will be providing over $30,000 in sponsorship for eight local projects.

Whistler Blackcomb has been making significant progress on construction of the Peak to Peak Gondola since ground-breaking 14 weeks ago. Major excavation of drive terminals, tower sites, form work and concrete pouring has been achieved. The ground work has been laid for major milestones such as the erections of towers two and three this fall. 

The final event at Kokanee Crankworx 2007, the Canadian Open DH took place in the Whistler Mountain Bike Park on Sunday.  Fabien Barel of France took first place with a time of 2:54.1.  Riders had one run on this skill testing DH course to post their best time. 

Over $3000 in cash and prizes for grillers who spice it just right for Local’s BBQ Day.  This Saturday the Local’s BBQ Day will let amateurs strut their spicy stuff in three categories: Budweiser “King of the Grill” Anything Goes Contest, the 6th annual Bull’s Eye Backyard Burger Championships and the Grand Marnier Summer Cocktail Contest. 

Signature event draws 15,000 spectators to Whistler while over 10,000 log into Rip.tv and Crankworx.com to watch live webcast.  The most anticipated event of Kokanee Crankworx was held in the sun drenched, spectator packed Boneyard Slopestlye Course in the Whistler Mountain Bike park yesterday afternoon from 5-8pm.  When all was said and done, Ben Boyko from North Vancouver, BC finished as top dawg with a final score of 33.7.

New Dual Slalom Event Is A Crowd Pleaser.  South African Greg Minnaar proved he was fastest in the TELUS Dual Slalom during Kokanee Crankworx 2007.  Minnaar took top spot on a tight, technical course located in the Boneyard in the Whistler Mountain Bike Park.

The Jim Beam Air Downhill took over the Whistler Mountain Bike Park yesterday with over 340 competitors from North America and around the world.  Finishing the day in top spot was Brian Lopes from Laguna Beach, CA with a time of 4:21:87.
The first ever WomenzWorx Gala Competition took place in the Whistler Mountain Bike Park during 4th annual Kokanee Crankworx. Whistler Blackcomb team rider Claire Buchar was awarded top prize after a day of judged freeride events that started in the Garbanzo Zone and continued through the Boneyard into Whistler village.
Australian Sam Hill claims first place in Garbanzo Downhill during the 4th annual Kokanee Crankworx.  With a time of 14:25.7, Hill made sure to leave the competition behind on an epic,  mud-slicked course in the Whistler Mountain Bike Park.

More than 10,000 adrenaline junkies are expected to view Whistler’s first live webcast during the Kokanee Crankworx Slopestyle finals,  running July 28 from 5pm to 7pm (PST). The webcast, powered by the exclusive online broadcast partner, Rip.TV and sponsored by TELUS, is Whistler’s first ever live webcast of an action sports event. The action will feature a full live feed of the Kokanee Slopestyle final, including live commentary from the hosts.

2007/08 Season Pass up for Grabs for Lucky Photo Submission Draw Winner. Whistler Blackcomb has announced a 2007/08 season pass up for grabs for lucky local who submits a photo that captures what it is about these mountains that inspires them.

Celebrate the Arrival of Summer, Check out Summer Activities on Whistler Blackcomb.  Whistler Blackcomb is set to kick start summer with Summer Local's Day Sunday, July 8. All locals from Pemberton, Whistler, Squamish and Mt. Currie are invited to take part in the festivities including: free access to the Whistler Mountain Bike Park, Peak Adventure and Little Mountain Golf Centre as well as great deals on other summer activities that are available at Whistler Blackcomb. 

Accepting proposals for funding from Sea to Sky groups. The Whistler Blackcomb Foundation Environmental Fund (WBFEF) is currently accepting applications for funding from groups in the Sea to Sky corridor. The deadline for proposals is June 15th.

Highlights include: uniting the mountains, debuting Symphony and crowning an Ullr girl.  It's that time of year again, when the lifties trade their snow gear and goggles for shades and t-shirts. Whistler Blackcomb is closing for the 2006/2007 season on June 3, after receiving an accumulative snowfall of 1,416cm (46 feet) – the second snowiest on record. It's also been a season of new beginnings, with the opening of the Symphony Amphitheatre and the announcement of the world record breaking Peak to Peak Gondola.

Whistler Blackcomb has commenced construction on their $51 million, world record-breaking Peak to Peak Gondola.  This incredible feat of engineering will connect Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains and is set to be completed by December 2008.
Whistler Blackcomb has received the 2007 Silver Eagle Award for Fish & Wildlife Habitat Protection for the development of the Symphony Amphitheatre, which opened on December 16, 2006. The Environmental Excellence awards were announced on May 7, during the National Ski Areas Association (NSAA) National Convention and Tradeshow held at La Quinta Resort & Club in La Quinta, Ca.

Construction of Revolutionary Project to Begin in May.  Three weeks ago, Whistler Blackcomb announced the revolutionary Peak to Peak Gondola, a record-setting project that will allow the resort to continue to offer an experience to visitors like no other in the world.  Today it was announced that IMG, the world's premier and most diversified sports, entertainment and media company, was named as the exclusive sales agent for the naming rights to the historic project.

Get ready for Angry Pirate, Crack Addict, Karate Monkey and Heart of Darkness. The adrenaline-fueled Whistler Mountain Bike Park opens May 19. Thanks to 46 feet (1409cm) of snow this season and a current base of 310cm (122 inches) of snow, besides biking, mountain warriors can still board and ski the snow-covered runs of Blackcomb Mountain until June 3.

Whistler Blackcomb's search for their Ullr Girl ended at the TELUS World Ski & Snowboard's Playstation Big Air on Saturday April 21 when skier Grete Eliassen was crowned with a Viking helmet befitting a mountain goddess and awarded with a cheque for $25,000.  The Minnesota native dominated over a field of 14 skiers and snowboarders in the resort's girls-only contest based on online votes, a park event, a big mountain event, and an arts and culture presentation.

With 103 days left in a winter season that extends to June 3, Whistler Blackcomb has surpassed its annual average snowfall before the end of February.
The If Ullr Was A Girl contest is heating up with 421 girls looking to capture every vote they can. February 19 marks the final day of phase one of Whistler Blackcomb's North America-wide contest to crown the ultimate mountain girl. 
The Sapient-Showcase Showdown is back February 23-24, 2007 at Whistler Blackcomb.  The Pipestyle format will continue with its hybrid construction of spines, rails, boxes and hits, all within the confines of the Night Superpipe at Base II on Blackcomb Mountain. 
Following the most recent snowstorm that dropped 22 centimetres or 8 inches in 24hrs, snowfall accumulation totals at Whistler Blackcomb have reached record highs. 877 centimetres or 345 inches of snow has fallen in Whistler so far this season, which is the most the resort has seen by this time in January based on 27 years of snow data analysis. The previous record saw 827 centimetres or 325 inches fall by January 31 of the 1991/1992 season. The current base sits at an incredible 305 centimetres or 120 inches as measured at mid-mountain.

Whistler is experiencing the tail end of a huge snowstorm, receiving 77cm of snow in the past 24 hours, bringing the current snow base to 296cm or 117 inches. With 769cm or 303 inches of snow so far this season, Whistler Blackcomb is the snowiest major ski resorts in the world.

ARC'TERYX and Whistler Blackcomb will present the inaugural Deep Winter Photo Challenge January 3 through 6, 2007. The contest celebrates the typical January weather systems that pelt the majestic Coast Mountain Range with storms, leaving behind epic powder days and deep tree skiing throughout the winter months.
Whistler Blackcomb opened their new Symphony Express high speed detachable quad today for scores of eager skiers and riders. The new lift, accessing 1,000 acres of pristine alpine bowls and gladed sub-alpine forest filled with thigh deep snow, began turning shortly after 11am.

Deep, fluffy powder on the menu for Saturday's Symphony Express Grand Opening.  Christmas came early for skiers and snowboarders at Whistler Blackcomb today. A strong Pacific storm blanketed the area with 58 centimetres or 23 inches of fresh powder in the past 24 hours, adding to November's record breaking snowfall and bringing anticipation for the grand opening of Symphony Express this weekend to a fever pitch. Whistler Blackcomb has received an incredible 5.8 metres or 19 feet of snowfall since November 1.

$9.2 million Symphony Express Chairlift opens this Saturday at Whistler Blackcomb.  Whistler Blackcomb’s most anticipated event of the year is just days away as the Symphony Express high speed detachable quad, accessing 1,000 acres of pristine alpine bowls and gladed sub-alpine forest, opens to the public for the first time on Whistler Mountain this Saturday, December 16 at 11am.
Holiday spirit soars as Whistler Blackcomb's annual 'Santa Day' kicks off Saturday, December 23. A free lift ticket will be awarded to the first 100 people to arrive at the base of Whistler Mountain in full Santa or Mrs. Claus attire, plus each participant will have the chance to win a new pair of skis or a snowboard.

Blackcomb Mountain opened at 8:15am this morning for the 06/07 winter season amid a heavy snowstorm in Whistler Village. Over 7,500 skiers and boarders on Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains enjoyed the 15 centimetres or six inches of snow that fell overnight, bringing the seven day snowfall total to 150 centimetres or 59 inches. The current snowbase as measured mid-mountain sits at 170 centimetres or 67 inches.
Whistler Blackcomb has announced a Symphony Express Golden Ticket contest that will provide 16 lucky winners with first access to the Symphony Express on its grand opening, Saturday December 16. Coming in at over $9 million, the new Symphony Express high speed quad chair is Whistler Blackcomb’s largest single investment within the $22.1 million spent on capital and maintenance projects for the 2006/07 season. The Symphony Express will run from the bottom of Flute Bowl to the peak of Piccolo on Whistler Mountain and will access over 1,000 acres of high alpine terrain.
Blackcomb Mountain will open this Thursday, November 23 in the midst of a record November snowfall, and in time for the US Thanksgiving holiday weekend. Currently digging out from back-to-back storm cycles, which are dumping significant snowfalls onto the mountains, Whistler Blackcomb is having one of its best openings in memory.
Massive winter storms that have blanketed Whistler resort since late last week resulted in Whistler Mountain opening earlier than planned today, Saturday, November 18.

A massive winter storm that has blanketed Whistler resort since Thursday night in 75 centimeters or 30 inches of snow, has precipitated the announcement that the resort will open earlier than expected. Whistler Mountain will open for the season this Saturday, November 18 from 8:30am to 3pm. Blackcomb Mountain will open as planned on Thursday, November 23.
Whistler Blackcomb is revelling in a snow storm that is quickly covering the mountains in a thick coat of fresh snow.  Since the snow began falling last night, over 50 centimetres or 20 inches has been measured at the Pig Alley weather station at 1650m.

Whistler Blackcomb has announced that the new lift-accessed area in the high alpine of Whistler Mountain will be crowned the Symphony Amphitheatre to reflect its spectacular natural amphitheatre-like terrain. A new name for the high speed detachable quad that will open on Whistler Mountain this November has also been announced. The previously announced Piccolo Express will be renamed Symphony Express to reflect the zone's new branding.
Gravity Logic, designer and developer of the world-renowned Whistler Mountain Bike Park, will host the inaugural Gravity Logic Forum to train the next generation of park riding trail builders, instructors, and management. The forum will take place in Whistler, British Columbia from September 12-15, 2006.
Whistler Blackcomb has announced the opening of a new hiking trail which adds to an already breathtaking network of alpine hiking trails totaling more than 40 kilometres in the Whistler Mountain alpine. The newly named High Note Trail will open to the public this Saturday, August 12, and was the subject of a "Name the Trail" contest held last month. 
Riders who like to spend more time in the air than on the ground have cause to celebrate with the launch of Whistler Blackcomb's Air Dome to the public slated for the remainder of the summer season, August 12 until October 9, 2006.
The Whistler Blackcomb Environmental Fund has recently donated $28,395 to local environmental community groups for the 2006 season.
Kokanee Crankworx 2006 has officially concluded nine epic days of mountain bike action including an incredible show at the Kona Jump Jam.
Today over 15,000 spectators witnessed just how far mountain biking has progressed at the 3rd annual Kokanee Crankworx Mountain Bike Festival.  Cameron Zink of Dayton, NV took the title from reigning Slopestyle champion Paul Basagoita of Minden, NV with a run including the most progressive trick of the night; a backflip X-up one-footer on the course’s massive step-up.
Brian Lopes of Mission, CA took first in the Jim Beam Air Downhill Pro category at the third annual Kokanee Crankworx Mountain Bike Festival yesterday. 
The Super D, a new event for the Kokanee Crankworx line-up, took place today. Nine-time USA National Champion Adam Craig of Bend, Oregon took home first in the Pro Men's category with a time of 10:29.01 - a full 1.20 minutes ahead of the second fastest time of the day.  Charlotte Klein of Squamish, BC took first in the Pro Women's with a time of 13:49.47.
The TELUS World Ski & Snowboard Festival is entering a new chapter of ownership and production with the announcement that Tourism Whistler and Whistler Blackcomb have purchased the 25% ownership stake held by event founder Doug Perry.
Kokanee Crankworx's après and after dark events will pack patios and guarantee good times every night of the festival. 
Kokanee Crankworx Mountain Bike Festival has announced the addition of two events to the roster of adrenaline-fueled competitions taking place July 22-30, 2006.  The Super D will take place on Tuesday, July 25 and the Kona Jump Jam will take place on Sunday, July 30.
