Holiday spirit soars as Whistler Blackcomb's annual 'Dress like Santa Day' kicks off Saturday December 22. A free lift ticket will be awarded to the first 100 people to arrive at the base of Whistler Mountain in full Santa or Mrs. Claus attire. Each participant will also have the chance to win a pair of Oakley goggles and a $500 Whistler Blackcomb gift certificate to spend at any Whistler Blackcomb location including The Glacier Shop and Showcase Snowboards.
To qualify, skiers and snowboarders must arrive dressed in their very best Santa or Mrs. Claus costume, which must include red or black pants or a skirt for Mrs. Claus, a red jacket with white trim, a black belt, a beard for Santa and of course, a Santa or Mrs. Claus hat. The meeting time for all Santa and Mrs. Claus participants is 8:30am on the patio of the Garibaldi Lift Company at the base of Whistler Mountain. One free lift ticket per person will be awarded to the first 100 people who meet full costume requirements.
"This is a great chance to get out on the slopes and represent," says Santa Claus, aka Kris Kringle. "I get so busy at this time of year, I can't get out to Whistler Blackcomb to enjoy the pow as much as I'd like. I love to see all the locals and guests get dressed up and enjoy a day for me. In your letters to Santa, make sure to tell me about the conditions; I'm coming up in January for sure!"
The day will begin for all Santa and Mrs. Claus's with a run down Whistler Mountain where a draw for the Oakley goggles and the $500 Whistler Blackcomb gift certificate will take place. After the draw each Santa and Mrs. Claus will have the rest of the day to ski or ride on Whistler or Blackcomb Mountains.
No registration is necessary for this event. Season passholders who participate will receive a one-day lift ticket valid for any day before January 31, 2008. For the latest weather and snow information or last-minute accommodation deals check out www.whistlerblackcomb.com.
