Critical components arrive after 11 week journey from Switzerland to Whistler. Five cable reels for Whistler Blackcomb's PEAK 2 PEAK Gondola are in the homestretch of a 18,000 kilometre/11,000 mile journey as they arrive by train in Whistler in the evening of Tuesday, June 17.
The Whistler Mountain Bike Park has introduced a new ticket product designed to attract more all-round riders to the park. The Sampler, as the name implies, offers riders a chance to get their feet dirty before fully jumping in, by providing them with three runs in the Park.
Glacier skiing and riding on Blackcomb’s Horstman Glacier begins on June 9 and this summer, Whistler Blackcomb is doubling its terrain park features and upgrading to a Superpipe.

Famed Bike Park Celebrates Ten Years Of Evolution and Leadership in Lift-Accessed Downhill Mountain Biking

The legendary Whistler Mountain Bike Park is set to open this Saturday, May 17, marking ten years of operation and progression in the world of lift-accessed downhill mountain biking. 

Despite some challenges caused by deep snow-pack at the lower elevations and a cooler than normal spring the Whistler Mountain Bike Park will open with two of its most popular trails – A-Line and Crank It Up.

After a snowy six month hiatus, construction on Whistler Blackcomb’s Peak 2 Peak Gondola has commenced, with completion of the record breaking lift slated for this December, just before the busy winter season swings into high gear.

Phase one of the two-year construction schedule concluded last November with the two tallest towers completed, and concrete poured for the foundations of the remaining two towers. Phase two has kicked off with the clearing of over 10 feet of snow around the lift terminals to prepare for construction. Access roads have been cleared of snow on Whistler and Blackcomb, and the steel for the towers is being moved into place.

Longest Ski Season in North America also Boasts Most Skiable Terrain

As most other resorts ramp down and close for the season, Whistler Blackcomb kicks spring skiing into full gear. Skiing and riding on Whistler Mountain will take place until April 20. Spring skiing continues on Blackcomb Mountain from Monday, April 21 through Sunday, June 8. With a current snow base of 265cm and 3,000 to 2,500 acres remaining open for May and the first week of June, spring is shaping up to be as epic as the rest of the season.

Countdown to 11th annual Sapient-Showcase Showdown is on Athlete Registration In Full Swing And Filling Fast.  The Sapient-Showcase Showdown hits Whistler Blackcomb Feb 29 - March 1, 2008.   Registration is in full swing with over 40 athletes confirmed and, with the Superpipe at Base II on Blackcomb taking shape, anticipation for this year's Showdown is high.

World Cup champions Britt Janyk (Whistler, BC) John Kucera (Calgary, AB), Emily Brydon (Fernie, BC) and Erik Guay (Mont-Tremblant, QC)  will lead a team of 16 Canadian alpine ski racers when TELUS presents the Whistler World Cup, Alpine Canada Alpin announced today.

Consistent snowfall spoils skiers and riders. Over the past seven days Whistler Blackcomb has received 51cm/20 inches of new snow. The five day forecast is calling for a possible 85+cm by Sunday as a strong frontal system hits the coast.

The longest running ski camp in North America still spreading a passion for skiing

Twenty-five years ago, World Cup Downhill Skier and Crazy Canuck Dave Murray started a ski camp at Whistler Blackcomb for adult intermediate and expert skiers wanting to take their skiing to the next level. He gathered some of the world's best ski coaches and created the legendary Dave Murray Ski Camps.

January Ends with a Flurry of Snow at Whistler Blackcomb.  18cm of Snow Fell Last Day of January, Bringing Month Snowfall Total to 264cm.
Picture this: Creekside as ground zero for the world's best ski racers as they fly down race courses at 120 kilometres per hour and big screens in Whistler's Village Square broadcasting live feed of all the action. Whistler Blackcomb's annual 'Dress like Santa Day' kicks off Saturday December 22. A free lift ticket will be awarded to the first 100 people to arrive at the base of Whistler Mountain in full Santa or Mrs. Claus attire.

Terrain Parks Growing And Superpipe Is Cut.  Whistler Blackcomb is set to open its world class Superpipe on Blackcomb Mountain as of December 9, 2007 with mid-season quality.  The Blackcomb Superpipe will open at full size at 120m/394ft in length and 5.5m/18ft high walls.

It's the adrenaline rush of a lifetime. Whistler Heli-Skiing will begin operations on December 8, offering guests nearly 500,000 acres of untracked terrain.

Over five feet of snow has blanketed mountains since November 1.  With over five feet of snow in November, Whistler Blackcomb is off to a great start this season. Skiing to the village will be available for December 1, bringing the amount of vertical to 4,725 feet. With over 5,000 acres available to ski and ride, Whistler Blackcomb offers the most terrain in North America.

Bait Ski and Snowboard Program to be Implemented.  Whistler Blackcomb is taking a tougher stance on property crime. Although theft statistics have remained level over the past three years, Whistler Blackcomb's Security Department is looking to improve matters for the company and its guests.

As of Saturday, Whistler Blackcomb will offer more than 5,000 acres and 3,600 ft. of vertical. Thursday, November 22 marks the official launch of Whistler Blackcomb’s 2007/2008 winter season, with Blackcomb Mountain opening and operations increasing on Whistler Mountain. On Saturday, November 24, Whistler Blackcomb’s terrain offering will increase to more than 5,000 acres and 3,600 vertical feet. 

Base Currently At 108cms/43” – A Great Leg Up On The Season.  An intense storm system that dropped over 80cms of snow on Whistler Blackcomb earlier this week has prompted mountain managers to open Whistler Mountain almost a week early.  Blackcomb Mountain will open as planned on Thursday, November 22.

Mother Nature has dumped over 80 centimetres of snow on Whistler Blackcomb in the last 48 hours bringing the mountain's snow base to 108 centimetres/43 inches. The Environment Canada Alpine Forecast is calling for a small reprieve from the intense weather tomorrow and Wednesday before storms pummel the mountains again on Thursday and Friday with 20-40 centimetres forecasted.

Two of snowboarding’s best loved athletes will showcase the result of an intense winter on Saturday, October 5 at the Garibaldi Lift Company (GLC). Leanne Pelosi’s production company Runway Films will screen their girls-only offering after David Benedek’s Blankpaper Studios’ “In Short,” is presented.

Whistler Blackcomb named No. 1 overall resort by TransWorld and moves up to No. 3 in SKI Magazine's poll.  Whistler Blackcomb remains the top ski resort in North America for the eleventh year in a row, upholding its No. 1 ranking on SKIING Magazine's "Top 25 Resorts in North America" list. Meanwhile, TransWorld SNOWboarding Magazine ranked Whistler Blackcomb No.1 overall ski resort in North America for a second year in a row, while SKI Magazine's annual "Top 50 Resort Guide" bumped Whistler Blackcomb up one spot to No. 3. Whistler Blackcomb made the Top 10 list in 11 categories.

The sixth annual Harvest Huckfest, Whistler Mountain Bike Park’s season-ender, is set to send off the season in style October 5-7, 2007.  Harvest Huckfest is a celebration of another great year for the Whistler Mountain Bike Park; a year of record breaking visits, new trails, sold out Women’s Wednesdays and, of course, the most successful Kokanee Crankworx to date.

The fifth annual Kokanee Crankworx, one of the world's biggest and most popular freeride mountain bike festivals is scheduled to hit Whistler, August 9-17, 2008.  The festival spans nine days and is packed full of excitement and entertainment on and off the hill.
