Kokanee Crankworx Athlete Registration Opens Monday June 8

Early registration strongly advised as most events will sell out

Athlete registration for Kokanee Crankworx 2009 will open on Monday, June 8. Nine days of events beginning on August 8 running through to August 16 will attract hundreds of athletes from the world’s best mountain bikers to amateurs.

Kokanee Crankworx 2008 saw 1,400 competitor “starts” by amateurs and professionals in all disciplines with many sold out so event officials encourage all to register early. The Dual Slalom, Monster Energy Garbanzo Downhill, WomenzWorx, the Air Downhill, the Giant Slalom presented by Giant Bicycles, the Canadian Open Enduro and the Canadian Open Downhill events are available for athlete registrations. For 2009, professional riders will be competing for over $80,000 cash and amateurs will be able to riding for over $50,000 in prizes, making this one of the biggest total prize purse events in the mountain bike world.

Athletes cannot register for the VW Trick Showdown or the Monster Energy Slopestyle as these events are invitational formats with 24 of the top professional freeride athletes competing. Based on results from previous slopestyle competitions, 18 riders have been pre-qualified to the invitee list but six spots remain from upcoming events (see www.crankworx.com for full details).


Event And Registration Details

The registration event pages for Kokanee Crankworx can be accessed through www.crankworx.com or through www.karelo.com. Amateur registration fees are $55 plus GST and professional registration fees are $65 plus GST. Register online prior to August 6 and save a $10 on-site surcharge.

Space permitting, onsite registration will be available starting August 7. The Athlete Centre will be open from 12-5pm August 7 and then from 9am-3pm for the balance of Kokanee Crankworx. On-site registration will be available space permitting, as some events have caps on registration. No day-of registration will be offered, only check-in for pre-registered competitors. Advance registration is strongly recommended.
