Thanks Santa for all the new snow for Christmas. Hope you like the new set ups we built with it. The park offerings are growing daily.
The New Year see's the opening of the Blackcomb Super Pipe. Thanks to Steve Petrie from Arena Snow Parks, pipe builder for the 2010 Olympics and Andy Morrison, We now have a full sized pipe in perfect condition that will be getting groomed nightly.
Now that we have great riding to the Valley the snowmakers are moving snow guns back up into the Highest Level Park and onto the Snowcross track. This snowmaking coupled with some more storms lined up out in the Pacific will allow the Park Rangers to add more terrain and set ups this week. The Big Easy Terrain Garden should be on line in the next few days.
The Whistler crew opened up the Habitat Park this week on Jolly Green and Chipmunk with new down rails, and boxes, a kinked rail, picnic table combo, a C box, and some jumps are on the way.
On the comp scene, the first King of the Rail was a huge success with over 75 riders slaying the Magic Marty Gautrey set up with killer new rails from Bernie at Northern Rails, check out the great shots taken by Seb Fremont. 150 spectators took in the action. Lot of great swag was handed out from our friends at Showcase and Glacier Shop including skis from Atomic, a snowboard from Sapient, as well as stuff from Nintendo, and TELUS. The next King of the Rail is Jan. 10th. Registration is at Whistler Kids at the base of Blackcomb between 5 and 6.
The first Park Rider Session Slopestyle presented by TELUS is taking place in the Blackcomb Park on Jan.11 registration at Guest Relations.
Here's to a snow filled 2009.
