Up Down and Back Around
Hello there all you loyal park riders. Sorry it has been so long since you have heard from us here at The Parks Team. Since we last spoke, we were still in full winter mode. We were running all our parks on both mountains. We then shut Whistler for a while, we hosted the World Ski Invitational and Grenade Games V, we had a Bangin’ spring season on Blackcomb for a month, and now we’re back on Whis (Upper Dave Murray), with an impromptu and amazing park. We are going to hold this park for at least 2 weeks, hopefully a bit longer though, maybe all the way to June 14th.
We would like to first thank the Whistler and Blackcomb Park crews for such an incredible season. Our day time crews were killing it all day long, with our Parks grooming teams creating magic up here all night. WB management, along with all the other departments, helped every single day to keep this ball rolling smoothly. A huge thanks goes out to Brad Meraly and the Web team, for keeping this web site and our Twitter account top notch! And of course a gigantic thank you to all you guys, our Parks riders. You keep us stoked daily, and on our toes. Thanks for all the support and suggestions.
Back to Business!
Thanks to Lucas Oulette, Kevin Charles Anderson, Brett Nakamoto, and a Bean for whipping up an impressive park for everyone to enjoy here late in the season. There was only 2 days to create it, which makes it almost mind boggling. We realize that most park riders are unfamiliar with our new location, but finding it is half the fun. Treat it like a scavenger hunt, if you’re don’t really know this part of Whistler Mountain. It is right at the top of the Upper Dave Murray Downhill Course (Red Chair Zone). That’s all were going to tell you.
The Park currently consists of 14 jibs and a gorgeous 35 foot booter. We still have a few tricks up our sleeves, so keep your eyes peeled!
Team Huddle!
The longevity of this park will of course depend on the weather and snow pack in the coming weeks. We’re also going to need the continued support of you guys, the park riders!!! We have a very limited team running the Park, and a very busy Patrol crew. We plead with everyone to help us keep the mountain in good shape. Smashing rope lines, signage, bamboo etc., puts a massive strain on our tiny crews, and if we can’t maintain the slopes, it may result in the mountain having to be shut earlier than we would like.
Thanks again guys, see you up here!!!!
