The first two months of Whistler Blackcomb's 2011.2012 winter season have been incredible. With 449cm of total snow fall, 100cm in the last seven days and nine straight days of fresh new snow Whistler Blackcomb has some of the best snow conditions in the world. 2011 was an incredible year for Whistler and 2012 looks to start off with more of the same. There is the potential for 40cm in the next 4 days adding to the 115cm since Christmas Eve.

Looking at the Alpine Forecast, a storm front is moving through this week and there's the potential for 35cm+ in the next couple of days. Throughout today and this evening we are expecting 15-25cm. Thursday looks to bring more of the same as we can expect snow accumulations of 5-10cm.

Whistler Blackcomb is thrilled to announce Whistler Mountain will open six days early on Friday, November 18. The return of La Nina, forecasted to bring greater than average snowfall, has skiers and snowboarders excited about the start of the ski/ride season. Blackcomb Mountain will open on Thursday, November 24, Whistler Blackcomb's official opening day.

Iconic Whistler photographer Blake Jorgenson took home the King of Storms title at the fifth annual Deep Winter Photo Challenge, presented by ARC'TERYX and Whistler Blackcomb. Second place went to the event's first ever female photographer, Robin O'Neill, and third went to up and coming photographer Andrew Strain. Ten-year photography veteran, Ilja Herb's epic ski photo was voted Best in Show by the panel of judges.
The 5TH annual Deep Winter Photo Challenge will take place Saturday, January 15 and will feature slideshows from six of the industry's best ski and snowboard photographers; Ilja Herb, Tim Zimmerman, Blake Jorgenson, Robin O'Neill, John Scarth and Andrew Strain.
