Summer Seasons at Whistler Blackcomb

From June to October, as the snow melts and then starts to reappear, Whistler Blackcomb undergoes a broad transformation via three unique summer seasons. We have showcased each season below to make sure that you get the most out of your PEAK 2 PEAK Alpine Experience. Early Summer Season
Dates: May - July

What to Expect: As Whistler Blackcomb transitions from winter to summer, it's an exciting time to experience our snowy alpine experience. With beautiful views of snowcapped peaks, you're certain to have an unforgettable experience.

7th Heaven

An exciting way to experience Whistler Blackcomb's highest elevation (over 1 mile above the village!) is the 7th Heaven Chair. Only open during the Early Summer season to access the Horstman Glacier for summer skiing and riding, this open air chair-lift is accessible via a short bus ride from the top of the Solar Coaster Express or the Blackcomb P2P Terminal.



Horstman Hut

Our authentic European-style hut perched at the very summit of Blackcomb Mountain. This hut offers incredible European-inspired treats in addition to a wide range of snacks and drinks. While at the summit, enjoy the incredible views of the Spearhead Mountain Range, Black Tusk, and the back side of Whistler Mountain. Accessible via the top of the 7th Heaven Chair.



PEAK 2 PEAK

Spanning the distance between Whistler and Blackcomb mountains – this journey is always breathtaking. In Early Summer, the views can be described as simply stunning with views of snow-capped peaks before the hot summer sun melt this away.

Snow

With over 30 feet of snow annually, Whistler residents take snow for granted but snow in the summertime is an exciting experience for many! And as Whistler Village heats up in the summertime, the refreshing alpine snow keeps everyone cool.

Mountain Top BBQ

As Early Summer Season starts to heat up, it comes with the Mountain Top BBQ series. Starting at the end of June; Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings at the Roundhouse Lodge on Whistler Mountain offer an incredible, mountain-top BBQ buffet experience with live entertainment. Just ride up the Whistler Village Gondola and enjoy mount-watering BBQ, fresh salads and delicious desserts at 1800m/6000 ft. Whether you dine inside or on our scenic patio, it's great for the whole family.

Skiing & Snowboarding

Whistler Blackcomb boasts one of the few places in North America to ski and snowboard through the summer season. Home to summer camps and training sessions for top atheletes including many former Olympians, the Horstman Glacier also offers skiing and riding for summer guests as well.



Peak Grazing and Mating Season for Bears

Whistler Blackcomb's bear population continue grazing following grass and clover up-slope; best opportunity to see pairs of adult bears during courtship and mating activities; potential interactions between adult males and mothers with cubs; short walk to daybeds, dens, and hair trap sites.




Mid Summer Season
Dates: Late July - Early September

What to Expect: At the height of summer, Whistler Blackcomb's alpine experience truly heats up! With the longest days of the year and unobstructed access to Whistler's vast trail network, it is impossible to fit everything into 1-day. Allowing access to the Peak Chair, an open-air chairlift which accesses the Peak of Whistler, and some of Whistler's iconic trails including the Peak Interpretive Trail and High Note Trail, you will not be disappointed with the stunning views. Plus, Summer Season is wildflower season and Whistler's alpine wildflowers overflow with beautiful colours.

Wildflowers

Whistler Blackcomb's alpine wildflowers bloom from late-July to early-August all around our extensive trail network. With a wide range of beautiful colours, you can't miss seeing the flowers in person.

Peak Chair

An exciting way to access Whistler Mountain's highest elevation and some of the most iconic trails is the Peak Express Chair for a truly top of the world experience. Accessible via a short walk down from the Roundhouse Lodge (located at the top of the Whistler Village Gondola or Whistler P2P terminal), the Peak Express Chair offers an open-air chairlift ride over a snowy glacier to the Whistler Summit and incredible views of landscape that cannot be seen from Whistler Village. Plus you can access some incredible hiking and a fascinating interpretive trail.

Hiking & Walking Trails

As Peak Season advances, Whistler Blackcomb's abundant trail network returns from the depths of Winter to emerge for guests to enjoy. Featuring up to 15 hiking and walking trails for all abilities, your PEAK 2 PEAK Alpine Experience is not complete without checking them out.

Festivals & Events

As a host venue for the 2010 Olympic & Paralympic Winter Games, Whistler knows how to host a good event! With an exciting lineup of festivals and events for everyone in Summer Season including a world class mountain bike festival, the Canadian BBQ Championships, the iconic Children's Art Festival and so much more, check them out.

Mountain Top BBQ

As the days get longer, the Mountain Top BBQ Series, every Friday, Saturday, Sunday at the Roundhouse Lodge at the top of Whistler Mountain, offers the best way to take in Whistler's iconic "alpenglow." With access to beautiful sunsets after a great day of exploring Whistler Blackcomb's alpine experience and an incredible dinner buffet, you will love our sizzling evenings Mountain-Top BBQ Series

Bears

Bears are foraging for berries in the Emerald Black Bear Conservancy: As the summer progresses, Whistler's abundant black bear population start to spend their time on Whistler and Blackcomb mountains searching for berries. Bear sightings can be a common treat from the Whistler Village Gondola so be sure to keep looking at the grassy meadows below.

Fall Season
Dates: Early September - Early October

What to Expect:During the Fall Season the temperatures cool down and Whistler gradually starts its transformation into winter. There is no better time than the fall to do some of Whistler Blackcomb’s epic hikes. Don’t forget your camera, as you will need it to capture all the impressive alpine colours and have your best chance to see wildlife.

Cooler Temperatures

After a warm summer, it’s nice to be able to take advantage of cooler temperatures at the top of the mountains. As the temperature drops at night, the alpine may even experience a light dusting of fresh snow – visible some fall mornings.

Epic Hikes

As the temperatures cool off, it’s a great time to hike one of Whistler Blackcomb’s epic trails like the High Note trail, Overlord Trail or the big kahuna-the Musical Bumps!

Whistler Mountain Bike Park

The best riding of the season in North America’s #1 lift –accessed mountain bike park is in the fall. The trails are tacky and it’s a great time to get a sneak-peek of new gems for the 2012 season.

The alpine colours come alive during the fall season. And with a birds-eye view from the PEAK 2 PEAK gondola, make sure that you bring your camera

Late Berry Season for Bears

Bears at high elevations searching for scattered berries while some bears revert back to grazing grass and clover at lower elevations; interpret daybeds, dens, feeding sites, and hair trap sites, pristine alpine photography.
