5 Peaks is the premier trail running company in Canada. Promoting physical fitness in all communities across Canada, our goal is to provide people a safe and controlled environment in which to experience the beauty and freedom available in Canada’s backcountry. We provide an exciting atmosphere, a challenging course, a competitive field, and an amazing off road experience, all while practicing & promoting sound environmental ethics.
Trail running is about constantly changing terrain and intensity. It’s peaceful and exhilarating all at the same time. It’s gentler on the mind and on the body, taking the relentless stress out of running while building strength and engaging muscles for a dynamic work out.
Each event provides four course lengths. Our Sport course offers entry level participants a challenging, yet manageable race through a 5-6 km trail, while the Enduro course offers racers a variety of 8-15km runs over some of the country's most spectacular terrain. At select venues in each area we offer a 1/2 Marathon course which will allow racers to challenge themselves over 21km of Canada's most rugged terrain. Children up to 10 years of age are eligible for entry into our Scotiabank Children's Challenge. Girls and boys are encouraged to participate. These are participation events; winning is not rewarded - participation is.
Whistler Course Details
This year we have developed an amazing off road experience for you...
Some steep climbs, sharp descents and craggy wilderness trails…you will be treated to tremendous views of ancient glaciers, snowcapped peaks, dormant volcanoes and the beautiful Coast Mountain Range. This year’s race is not to be missed!
A Few Very Important Reminders:
Both the Sport and Enduro races will start at 11:00am Saturday August 22nd at the Roundhouse on top of Whistler. (Children’s Challenge starts at 10:30am) You must check in, get your race number, timing chip and upload pass prior to Saturday morning at 9:30am. Uploading to the Roundhouse will start at 9:00am, and all racers must be uploaded to the top of the mountain by 10:00am. The upload fee is included in your registration fee, and you will be given your upload ticket at check in.
NEW! All racers will also be given one guest 50% off discount coupon for the Gondola for your cheering squad, so bring your fans up with you! We will also be handing out discount coupons for store promotions. Not to worry, you’ll get everything in your race kit when you check in.
RACE CHECK IN will be available Friday August 21st from 5:00pm to 9:00pm and on Race Day, from 7:30 am to 9:30am in Whistler Village at the Salomon Store. FREE PARKING is available in Whistler Day Lot parking lots, but no over night parking is available.
NO CHANGES to registrations will be accepted on race day, the deadline for switching course distances is Wednesday Aug 19th at 6:00pm
BAG CHECK will be available at the top of Whistler Mountain. We’ll have a volunteer there to take your bag and give you a ticket.
WATER/REFRESH will be available at two aid stations on course. (One 2km in on both the Sport and Enduro course and the other is 8km in on the Enduro course). Due to the elevation and sometimes extreme upper alpine conditions we STRONGLY recommend that you run with your own water.
HEADPHONES are not recommended. We know some of you love to run with your favorite tunes, and we ask that if you absolutely have to; you respect other runners…keeping the volume down to a level that allows you to hear others around you, should they need to pass, need your help, or other wise need to get your attention. The upper alpine trails are very narrow and quite remote, and the area is very sensitive, making passing difficult. Please stay on the trails, and be courteous to runners wanting to get by.
AWARDS will take place immediately after the race (approximately 1:00pm) at the Roundhouse Lodge – on the Glacier View Patio. Food and beverages are available while we hand out the awards medals and great prizing.
