Join us in Whistler on July 1 to celebrate Canada’s Birthday with our very own Canada Day Parade and other exciting events.
The theme to this year’s Parade is “Whistler Spirit – Let’s Hear It! Celebrating our Arts, Culture, and Heritage.” The Parade begins at noon on Wednesday July 1 and will travel throughout village stroll. Mayor Ken Melamed will open the Canada Day Ceremony in Mountain Square immediately following the Parade.
In addition to the Parade, the Whistler Arts Council is offering an impressive line-up of street entertainment, including the larger-than-life Colossal Canadian, “Live Art” in Village Square with Cary Lopes, and face painting and balloon twisting in Mountain Square.
VANOC will be celebrating Canada’s Games by featuring 2010 Winter Games mascots Miga, Sumi and Quatchi, the 2010 Olympic Torch, sport demonstrations, athletes and guests and the grand opening of the Olympic Store. Activities will run from 1:00pm to 4:00pm near the Whistler Olympic Store at 4253 Village Stroll in the Deer Lodge.
A Canada Day outdoor film screening will be presented at the Squamish Lil'Wat Cultural Centre at sundown. Be sure to bring the whole family because the day will have something for everyone!
