FIBT: Bobsleigh and Skeleton World Cup
February 2 - 4, 2012

The world's top bobsleigh and skeleton athletes will hit the track at the Whistler Sliding Centre for thrilling sliding sport action on the fastest track in the world. Get dressed in red and white, and come on down to the Sliding Centre to cheer Canada's athletes to gold.

Callaghan Winter Sports Club Biathlon Series
February 4, 2012

From beginners to experts, the Biathlon Series is an excellent opportunity to experience biathlon and test your cross-country skiing and shooting skills in a fun environment. Similar to a sprint competition, each participant will ski three loops of a course, with two shooting bouts in-between. These events are open to all members of the public, ages 8 and up. Takes place at the Whistler Olympic Park. Cost to participate is $25.

Performance Series: Portland Taiko
February 11, 2012

Portland Taiko is a premier Pacific Northwest drum ensemble. "Taiko," meaning drum and an art form, is deeply rooted in ancient Japanese tradition and combines rhythm, movement, energy and culture into a single art form. Portland Taiko's aspiration is to create a taiko performance of the highest artistic quality with a strong and beautiful voice for all to enjoy. The show starts at 8 PM at Millennium Place and tickets can be purchased at Millennium Place.

Daily: Free Mountain Tours - Complimentary Orientation Tours

Get ready to have your eyes opened to some of our best skiing and riding, available for intermediate and expert skiers & riders. See the Mountain through the eyes of a Mountain Host. The Whistler Blackcomb Mountain Host program offers free orientation tours daily:

Whistler Orientation Tour: Meet at the Guest Satisfaction Centre at the Alpine Lightboard (top of the Whistler Village Gondola)

Blackcomb Orientation Tour & Blackcomb Glacier Tour: Meet at the Guest Satisfaction Centre (top of the Solar Coaster Express)

Daily: Free Avalanche Awareness Tours

The tours meet every day outside the Avalanche Awareness Center at the top of Solar Coaster.  Meeting Time: 12:30pm.

Free daily Avalanche Awareness Tours are run by the Whistler Blackcomb Ski Patrol, these half day tours cover:

  • Safe travel
  • Terrain evaluation
  • Avalanche phenomenon
  • Control measures within W/B boundary
  • Avalanche safety equipment (they get to play with shovels, avalanche transceiver, probes etc)
  • Rescue techniques

This tour stays in-bounds the whole time. Those wishing to take part must be able to ski/ride a blue run (intermediate run) comfortably to join tours.

Presented By The TELUS World Ski & Snowboard Festival

Who can resist fireworks and fire spinners – especially when snowflakes fill the air? Whistler's best skiers and riders, including Whistler Blackcomb Snow School's finest, hit a big air jump through a blazing ring of fire every Sunday night at 6:30pm. Spend your evening with family, friends, and live entertainment! After the show, head upstairs to the GLC's notorious Afterburn Party.
