Springtime in Whistler |
While most ski resorts close down by mid-April, there is still great spring skiing and riding in Whistler. Whistler Mountain will remain open for spring skiing and riding until April 23, 2007. Blackcomb Mountain will remain open until June 4, 2007.

This year, the Spring Park will be located in the Highest Level Park on Blackcomb Mountain. With all the snow, it's sure to be a good one!

The Whistler Mountain Bike Park opens on May 19.
Starting June 5, you will find summer glacier skiing and riding on Blackcomb. When the snowpack permits, enjoy alpine hiking and sightseeing on Whistler Mountain.

Spring brings milder temperatures and softer snow conditions on the mountains. While we do receive some precipitation, it is usually in the form of snow at higher elevations. And when the sun breaks out, you'll see people skiing in shorts and lounging on our many mountain patios. See our weather stats & average temperatures.
Later in the spring, as temperatures get warmer, the snow begins to melt on the lower portions of the mountains and you can no longer ski all the way down to the valley. This means you will ride the gondola back down the mountain to the Village at the end of your day. To many, this is a welcome rest after a great day of spring skiing or riding!
Before you head up the mountain, have a look at the alpine forecast, live conditions, and web cams to help you plan your day. Remember to wear layers so you can adapt to different temperatures in the alpine and don't forget to apply sunscreen, as the sun is stronger at higher elevations, even on overcast days.
Consult our calendar of events to see what's happening between April and June. The 'must see' event for April is the annual TELUS World Ski & Snowboard Festival. The Whistler Mountain Bike Park opens May 19 - enjoy an afternoon of biking after a morning on the slopes! There are many other activities available from fishing and helicopter tours to shopping and ecotours.
When spring is over, you can head up to the Glacier on Blackcomb Mountain for summer skiing and riding until July 31.
