DFX Park (7-16 yrs)

DFX PARK is for riders of an intermediate to expert level who want to focus on Downhill riding in the Whistler Bike Park. Groups will ride trails suitable to their speed and ability. Riders will develop and fine tune bike handling skills, riding at safe speeds, working on correct jumping, cornering and dropping technique. Our coaches will work on all areas of skill development needed to tackle trails safely.

Stoke your stoke

Once your child has the basics of downhill mountain biking dialed in from attending our DFX Daily lessons or DFX Club program our highly certified and experience coaches will continue to take their skills to the next level. Whether there are already shredding Aline and Dirt Merchant, want to follow in the footsteps of other ex DFX’ers like Seth Sherlock and Lucas Cruz into DH racing or they are just starting to tackle technical blues and looking to learn to jump we have a group for your young shredder.

Whistler Mountain Bike Park - Coach, Ash Jones

Ash Jones - Program Head Coach

Program Head Coach

Ash Jones

Mountain Bike instructor and elite level coach, Instructor trainer for both biking and skiing.

I entered the world of biking at a young age. Growing up in the flattest part of the UK it began not with mountain bikes but with BMX. I spent most of my teenage years travelling the UK in search of the best skateparks and dirt jump spots we had to offer.

After graduating from college my focus switched to skiing where I gained valuable experience as a coach of young athletes and trainer of fellow instructors. I have since obtained my CSIA level 4 certification which is highly regarded in the ski industry and has further contributed to my professional development.

Only a few short years after putting down BMX, I found myself on two wheels again here in Whistler! Bringing my skills from BMX proved to be hugely valuable in my progression on a mountain bike. It seemed only natural that I would combine this new found love of big wheels with my coaching background in skiing! I now specialize in high level downhill and enduro coaching and have seen some of the young guns from the DFX program go on to race in national and world cup level races.

I love to analyze each and every aspect of our sport in order to better my own riding and to encourage others to do the same. My goal is to share my passion for the sport and create life long mountain bikers!
