Mid-November to Late December

One of our best-kept secrets is the abundance of early season snowfall, with an average of 2.4 metres (almost 8 feet) in November alone. Combine that with smaller crowds and some of the best prices of the season, and it’s easy to see why those in the know consider early season a great time to visit.

Early Season Details:

  • Average Snowfall: 249 centimetres (98 inches) in November, 227 centimetres (89 inches) in December
  • Terrain Open: Mid-mountain piste with alpine terrain and ski-outs as snow falls

Insider Tips:

  • Whistler Mountain typically opens even earlier than planned, so be prepared at least a week or two out to get your first turns in.

Late December to Early January

When you’re planning a vacation over the holidays, you'll want the promise of an unforgettable experience.   • Get up early to beat the crowds by being in line before the lifts open from the bottom.
  • Stay up high and move around the mountain as new lifts open up on the mountain.
  • Eat smart, breaking for lunch before 11:30 a.m. or after 1 p.m. to skip the crowds.

Early to Late January

January is 8.171 acres of terrain, one of the largest networks of high-speed chairlifts and deep, plentiful snow combine forces—creating an unmatched experience for first-timers and seasoned shredders alike.

  • Skiing the week after the holidays is one of the quietest weeks of the season with the most terrain open.

February to Late March

Make the most of the longer daylight in February and March to pack in even more during your Whistler Blackcomb trip, with awesome new adventures that everyone will love from snowshoeing and ziplining, to heli-skiing, snowmobiling, and even dog sledding. This time of year, it's apparent why Whistler Blackcomb is envied by resorts everywhere.

Mid Season Details:

  • Average Snowfall: 158 centimetres (62 inches) in February, 248 centimetres (98 inches) in March

  • March is Considered "Powder Month" by locals, due to the abundance of snow seen on average.

  • Mid-week skiing will always be less crowded than weekends. Plan your trip by skiing at least Tuesday through Thursday.

April to May

Spring just doesn’t get any better than this. Our March snowfall average of 2.5 metres (over 8 feet) adds to an already amazing base, delivering the longest ski season in North America.

And you won’t want to miss the World Ski & Snowboard Festival, where concerts, competitions, events and epic nightlife combine for a never-ending celebration of spring.
