PEAK 2 PEAK Gondola with Blackcomb Mountain

Travelling with friends can be a blast, but when your destination is somewhere like Whistler Blackcomb, you really can’t go wrong. There are so many fun things to do in Whistler that you may struggle to find time to ski! There's no shortage of adventures, from heli-skiing to soaking in a hot tub.

1. Experience Heli-Skiing in Whistler

For strong intermediate to advanced skiers seeking a once in a lifetime thrill, Whistler offers an exciting opportunity for you and your friends to explore untouched terrain. Escape the crowds on a Whistler Heli-skiing trip and access over 475 runs spread across 432,000 acres of pristine wilderness. With only heli-skiing adventurers able to access this area, you'll have the chance to carve fresh tracks in big mountain terrain and create unforgettable memories.

2. Visit the Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Centre

This centre is designed to provide visitors with a closer look at the Indigenous culture in British Columbia. There are cultural ambassadors from the Lil’wat Nation and the Squamish Nation to greet and guide you through the centre. It’s one of the most interesting things to do in Whistler outside of sports.

Not only will you be welcomed with a traditional drum welcome song and dance, but you’ll also have a chance to watch an inspiring fifteen minute film, look at some of the cultural artifacts up close in the museum. Enjoy picking up a souvenir on the way out, or have a coffee before deciding what to do for the rest of the day. While the tour is an hour long, you can visit the museum as long as you like.

3. Enjoy Snow Tubing

Whistler has a tube park that is destined to become one of the best group activities out there. The bubly™ Tube Park is located in the Base 2 Zone on Blackcomb Mountain and is a lot of fun. You don’t need to learn new skills; just hop on a tube and start sliding madly down the hill. No special gear is necessary to enjoy the ride because you’ll be close to the ground anyway.

Gather some pals and challenge them to a race on the tube hill. May the best tuber win.

4. Go Bobsleighing

At the Whistler Sliding Centre, you have two options for activities. One is to jump into a bobsleigh and have an expert pilot whip you through multiple twists and turns at around 125 km/hr for a truly exhilarating experience. You’ll receive an orientation first, so you know what to do, then you get into a proper bobsleigh and feel like an Olympian.

The second experience is the Public Skeleton Experience. This is where you’ll zip down the slide on a skeleton sled at speeds of up to 100 km/hr. This is a wonderful thing to try out; your entire group will have a great time flying around the corners.

5. Watch the Fire and Ice Show

Where else but Whistler would performers entertain you with an electric mix of music, dance and fire?  Watch a spectacular display of pyrotechnics, music, live entertainment and world-class freestyle skiing and riding, including Whistler Blackcomb Snow School's finest pros. It’s worth catching at least once during your stay at in Whistler. Everyone in the group will find this to be an exhilarating experience. It’s one of the more exciting things to do with friends in Whistler.

Finish the night off with a first-class fireworks display which you can watch right in Whistler Village. You don't want to miss this free all-ages event, every Sunday evening in Whistler Skier's Plaza. Fire & Ice runs until March 17, 2024.

6. Ride The PEAK 2 PEAK Gondola

There’s no shortage of excitement on the mountain, but you’ll find that the enjoyment is extra when you can all do the activity together. The PEAK 2 PEAK Gondola is a breathtaking, 4.4-kilometre journey to infinite possibilities. At 436 m/1,427 ft above the valley floor, the PEAK 2 PEAK is the world’s longest continuous lift of its kind and a marvel of engineering linking Blackcomb Gondola on Blackcomb Mountain to the Village Gondola on Whistler Mountain. Explore the mountains free from the weather outside or take a ride up to Whistler’s Umbrella Bar or enjoy a fine dining experience on Blackcomb at Christine’s Restaurant.

7. Take a Dinner Tour

There are plenty of food tours in the world, but when it comes to things to do in Whistler, you will find they are some of the best. There are multiple options to choose from, including a wine tour where you’ll visit one of the most impressive wine cellars in North America. You’ll enjoy appetizers, chocolates, wine, and Italian food. The Finer Things tour takes you through various restaurants for the ultimate foodie experience.

Why not try the Hidden Gems Dinner Tour if your group can’t decide on a place to eat? The tour will give you a better look at the many options available for food in Whistler. In this case, you’ll taste-test a variety of foods that many visitors never even know about. You’ll get to try four different restaurants, and you can always return to your favourites later.
